On Thursday September 5 one of the most anticipated events of the fashion Industry kicks off – New York Fashion Week. Amongst the fashionistas, brands and style bloggers all over mainstream media there will of course be a huge amount of activity on social media.
Pinterest has come to the party in a bold way this year, creating a dedicated hub for all things fashion week where users have the option of following specific boards or returning to the hub when they like. The purpose of the hub is not about purchasing and will not include any eCommerce integrations, but will instead focus on it’s core use – inspiration.
“Use Pinterest to create collections of looks you love—from designer inspirations, to behind-the-scenes moments and fashion-forward street style.”
Featured boards include Oscar de a Renta, Michael Kors and Marchesa.
This move by Pinterest aligns up with it’s goal to integrate with more businesses and increase brand presence on the popular bookmarking site – paving the way for future revenue opportunities.
Currently the Fashion Week page only features New York, however boards from London, Paris and Milan will be arriving shortly.
