Being one of the first people to see your favorite brands new line used to mean signing up for their catalog in store and waiting for the postman to deliver the new catalog – but those days are over. J.Crew has taken the plunge and will launch it’s September Catalog on the Social Networking site – Pinterest.
The brand will be “pinning” teaser images this week in the lead up to the launch next Monday (August 26), giving followers the chance to pre-order looks they like.
“Just for our friends on Pinterest, an exclusive first look at our September Style Guide. (Love what you see? Our Very Personal Stylist team can help you pre-order the looks before they become available on Wednesday August 21.) Call 800 261 7422 or email erica@jcrew.com”
Was Pinterest the right fit for J.Crew? Here at Growing Social Media – we say yes!
15% of internet users have a Pinterest account, with the average Pinterest user being a female with some level of college or higher education and a middle to higher income between the ages of 25 and 34.
To complement their Pinterest campaign J.Crew have several other digital initiatives including promoting it’s in-store Style Sessions event on August 22 via Instagram, and using micro-blogging site Tumblr to follow the 2013 New York Fashion week.
J.Crew may have been the first apparel brand to choose Pinterest as their launching platform, but they certainly weren’t the first to use social media. Last month, Oscar de la Renta premiere its fall campaign via Instagram, and countless brands have used Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to debut their print and TV advertisements.
Not bad for a brand that, until a year ago didn’t have a social media department, let alone a Pinterest account.
