Have you dabbled in the new Instagram Stories function? Maybe you’re a little new to it, but you’ve at least seen some of your friends posts- and are envious of their skills!
The new add-on allows you to do a lot more customization with your images – including drawing on photos and changing the filter by swiping left or right, but there’s a few hidden features we’re going to help you uncover.
Here are eight hidden Instagram Stories’ features:
1. Go forward and backward
To skip over a post, tap the right side of the screen to move forward to the next post. If you’d like to go back to the previous post, just tap the left of the screen.
2. Adjust your light
You can brighten your shot before you take your photo by selecting the moon icon.
3. Post from your phone’s camera roll
You can upload photos and videos from the last 24 hours of your camera roll by swiping down on the screen when you’re inside Instagram Stories. You can also record Boomerangs within Instagram Stories.
4. Colorblock your screen
Using the marker tool, drag your finger down the screen very slowly and the colored line will turn into a box that you can use to make a text box or fill the entire screen as long as you continue to hold your finger down.
5. Color-code text
Change the colors of your text by selecting any word or letter and picking a color from below in any combination.
6. Hit pause
Pause a video you’re watching in someone else’s story by holding your finger down on the screen to stop it and raise your finger to start it again.
7. Customize your colors
To pick a different color to write or draw with, simply press down on any of the color circles and pick the specific shade you want from the spectrum.
8. Zoom in and out
If you hold down the video circle and move your finger up the screen you can zoom in while recording. If you want to zoom out, just move your finger back down the screen for the opposite effect.
