As if taking selfies didn’t look weird enough, Snapchat has created new augmented reality filters that are causing people everywhere to raise their eyebrows, stick out their tongues and look ridiculous. But if you’re still not sure how to use Snapchat and its new updates, here’s a step by step guide.
How to Use Lens- Snapchat’s Augmented Reality Filter
These filters can put a flower in your hair, make a demon appear, distort your facial features, and more! To apply,
- Tap and hold your face (which should appear in the middle of the screen at a normal distance)
- Wait for the white net-like covering to appear, which opens the augmented reality filters
- Swipe through the icons at the bottom of the screen
- Engage with filters by the instructions given (raise eyebrows, open mouth, etc.)
- Tap the selected icon/filter to capture the image/video.
- Click the blinking arrow at the right, bottom hand side
- Select individual friends or upload to your Story.
How to Use Snapchat Lens Face Swap
To swap facial features with another person (physical or image should work),
- Start with one person in the frame
- Tap and hold your face (which should appear in the middle of the screen at a normal distance)
- Wait for the white net-like covering to appear, which opens the augmented reality filters
- Swipe to the face swap option
- Have the first person line up with the left smiley face (only between the eyebrows and above the mouth will switch)
- Have the second person line up with the right smiley face
- Press the face swap image to capture and send as normal
How to Use a Stacked or Double Filter
To use more than one filter at a time,
- Take a Snapchat
- Swipe through and choose the first filter as normal.
- Hold onto the filtered picture with your right thumb
- Swipe left with your left thumb
